I Picked Up a Ginseng Groom [Book Transmigration]

Ji Lin transmigrated into a novel about men who could bear children, as a bit-part cannon fodder character. His family was dirt-poor, he had no one to rely on, and he barely made ends meet by gathering medicinal herbs.

One day, Ji Lin found a ginseng root tied with a red string in the mountains. He planned to take it to town and sell it, but in the blink of an eye, the ginseng in his basket had turned into a soft, fair-skinned young man who could bear children.

According to legend, ginseng spirits could restore flesh to bones and bring the dead back to life. Every part of them, from their blood to their hair, could be used as medicine. They were heavenly treasures coveted by all.

Ji Lin looked at his dilapidated old house, then at the ginseng lad in his basket...

To avoid being sold, the little ginseng volunteered to become Ji Lin's husband, and claimed he was great at cooking and laundry.

Ji Lin brought the little ginseng home, half-believing him. After all, one more mouth to feed wouldn't make much difference. But while the snail maiden in other people's homes did the cooking and laundry, the ginseng lad in his set fire to the mountains.

Standing in his pitch-black kitchen, Ji Lin let out a long sigh. "Is this what you meant when you said you were great at cooking?"

The little ginseng seemed to feel guilty too. He blinked and asked Ji Lin, "Actually, I'm good at other things too. Want to try?"

Then he added nervously, "As long as you don't sell me."

Ji Lin sighed. What else could he do? He'd picked up this ginseng himself, so he'd just have to grit his teeth and look after him.

Later, with the fragrant little ginseng in his arms, Ji Lin thought that the lad's "other talents" really were pretty good.
