His Seatmate

A new student transferred into Class B. She had doe-like eyes, spoke softly, and smiled like a little sun on a spring day. They said she was a top student, too.

The teacher temporarily assigned her to sit with Chen Yue.

"Man, Brother Yue sure is lucky. That new girl looks so sweet."

Chen Yue had just finished playing basketball. His short black hair was soaked with sweat, and he looked impatient. "Get lost. I hate goody-two-shoes."

When school officially started, Chen Yue saw his new deskmate and froze.

Propping his head up with one hand, Chen Yue lazily asked her, "Have we met before?"

His new deskmate wore a neat school uniform. She looked a little nervous. "...Students aren't allowed to date. Please don't hit on me."

Chen Yue: "..."

Chen Yue narrowed his eyes. "You really don't remember?"

The new girl gazed at him innocently with her clear black-and-white eyes. "Sorry, us goody-two-shoes have bad memories."

Chen Yue: "..."

Laughter erupted around them. Everyone was amused to see Chen Yue, who was usually surrounded by admirers, get put in his place.

Chen Yue stared at his new deskmate with dark eyes, then gave a quiet laugh.

Well, look at you. You used to follow me around calling me "Big Brother" this and "Big Brother" that, a little tagalong I couldn't shake off no matter what. Now you've grown up.

The summer breeze blew gently, and sunlight filled the classroom. No one noticed the new girl turn away and blush.

[A sudden burst of inspiration. The title and blurb are tentative.

It might turn into another story. The final version will be whatever I start writing, so please follow for now.]
