Why Would a Cannon Fodder Straight Guy Try to Save Anyone?

Gu Mingqiu transmigrates. The bad news is that he's become a cannon-fodder character destined to die. The good news is that he still has a few years before his death.

The original is a male-led cultivation novel about the hero's comeback, but in truth it's a melodramatic story full of sexual abuse. Most importantly, it's a danmei novel. As a cannon-fodder character, Gu Mingqiu decides to save the tragic, universally adored protagonist.

Of course, he has never read Haitang Literature, so he doesn't know that a straight man entering Haitang is like a mouse in a cat's eyes, blood in a mosquito's eyes, or xxx in a fly's eyes.

So when he realizes the little flower he carefully raised has turned out to be gay, Gu Mingqiu is heartbroken. But he doesn't give up. He tries to turn him straight, until eventually he gives up, because the little wolf he raised doesn't just refuse to be turned straight. He plans to turn Gu Mingqiu gay instead.

Gu Mingqiu: Breathes.

Xie Tangxue: Seduces him.

Gu Mingqiu: Drinks water.

Xie Tangxue: Kisses him.

Even when Gu Mingqiu says his name, it sounds to Xie Tangxue like a confession of love. Gu Mingqiu gives up trying. Whatever happens, happens.

Unfortunately, a straight man is a straight man. If he can't love, he can't love.

So, on the Cliff of Heartlessness, Xie Tangxue stands in fluttering red robes and asks Gu Mingqiu if he will marry him. But amid the howling wind, all he receives is a cold look and a heartless answer. Then comes the bottomless abyss. There is no turning back for him.
