The Little Cub Doesn't Want to Be King of Fairyland

[A lighthearted, heartwarming bedtime fairy tale. Short story. Start date undecided.]

The little one was only four years old. Then one day, a wise man told her that the throne of the Fairy Tale Kingdom had long been vacant, and she needed to go there and take over as queen.

The little one sighed. With no other choice, she slung her favorite little bag over her shoulder and set off for the Fairy Tale Kingdom on her short, chubby little legs, patter, patter, patter.

Every day, all kinds of stories played out in the Fairy Tale Kingdom, orderly and unchanging.

But every now and then, something would go wrong.

For example, Snow White, who was supposed to eat the poisoned apple and fall into a deep sleep, refused the apple the queen offered her because she was sick of apples;

For example, the little girl who was supposed to go out and sell matches on Christmas Eve forgot to go to work because she had a date with her sweetheart;

For example, the little mermaid princess, who had once longed to become human, suddenly decided she didn't want to follow the plot. Not only did she fail to rescue the prince who had fallen into the sea, she dragged him back to her underwater palace instead...

After seeing so many ridiculous mishaps, the little one, newly crowned queen, couldn't help but sigh. She had no choice but to put down her candy, sling her little bag over her shoulder, and patter off to help the residents of the Fairy Tale Kingdom.

Looks like today is another day when she won't get to eat, play, or sleep to her heart's content. Boo-hoo.
