Feng Shanke, the Sword Venerable of Taihe, was once known as the Cangshan Daoist. He was a pillar of the cultivation world, renowned far and wide.
After emerging from seclusion recently, he had a sudden realization: he was actually a minor background character in a bunch of bizarre romance stories. His main role in the plot was to get in the way of people from the Immortal and Demon realms falling in love, and to trip them up when, overcome with passion, they wanted to drag the whole world down with them.
In other words, he died pretty horribly. Every single time.
Feng Shanke: "..."
Feng Shanke: "?"
No, seriously, there's no way he could die in such bizarre ways...
Suspicious, he made a calculation with his fingers.
Well, all these people causing trouble in the Immortal and Demon realms are part of a calamity destined to happen. No matter how he tries to stop them, he can't!
And so...
The Sword Venerable of Taihe quit!

Please note:
The protagonist's combat strength is: "Invincible below the Immortal level, and a one-for-one trade against anyone above it."
He cultivates the Way of the Heartless, but his kind is accepting of all things, rejoicing in and praising them without being bound by anything. He isn't someone who turns himself into a rock with a fire hidden inside.
Whether the order is cultivation, wealth, companions, and a place to practice, or cultivation, companions, wealth, and a place to practice, he doesn't care. He only wants the Way.
In the story, he's basically traveling everywhere and making friends, while drawing a line in the sand for the Immortal and Demon realms. As long as they don't cross it, he watches from afar and enjoys the spectacle. If they do cross it, he'll kill them, even if they were once friends. A cultivator who has reached the pinnacle of the Way of the Heartless doesn't care about your personal feelings.
That line is: "If you want to die, die on your own. If you want to cause trouble, do it elsewhere. Don't drag the whole world down with you."
He doesn't meddle in other people's business, but the people of the world aren't someone else's business.
