Qin Xian is the head of intelligence for the Laide Star System, and the most mysterious one in the history of the position.

Qin Xian's superior politely declined. "He's a Beta. I thought you came here to discuss something more important, such as a partnership."

Xu Xu didn't take it seriously. At dinner, he brought it up again. "Five mining planets for Qin Xian. He's a Beta, so this is hardly a bad deal for you."

"If he can have children, one child for each mining planet," Xu Xu said matter-of-factly, glancing at Qin Xian. "If he can't, I don't mind."

Qin Xian stood up and walked over to Xu Xu, then splashed a full glass of wine in his face. Looking down at him with a faint smile, he said, "This glass of wine buys your silence. I don't offer drinks often, Mr. Xu, so you got the better end of the deal."

Xu Xu, head of a famous nongovernmental organization, was decisive, refined, and laid-back. He did whatever he pleased and took whatever he wanted. In his thirty years, there had never been anything he desired and failed to obtain.
