[Journey to the West] The Wish-Fulfilling Fruit

A story about a monkey falling in love with a peach, and taking down the heavens along the way.

[Blurb]

A new manager has arrived at the Peach Garden. He's short, covered in fur, and his tail sticks straight up in the air.

He shirks his duties, leaps around all day, and never gives me a moment's peace. He's made me drop several leaves already.

How dare he bite into a peach!

How dare he take only one bite!

How dare he flirt with me, a young and beautiful celestial maiden!

When we first met, the rascal pressed right up against me and sniffed me all over, then leaned back in surprise and said, "You smell so good."

...I told them ages ago not to let a monkey watch over the peaches!

But before he came, for hundreds and thousands of years, I never knew what freedom was.

Rebellious Great Sage Monkey × timid celestial office worker Peach Fairy

[About the Great Sage]

His appearance is based on the TVB version, yes, the one played by Dicky Cheung with all that fur stuck on him;

His characterization is based on the 1999 version, yes, that must-watch animated series for anyone born in the '90s, and the start of the author's love story.

I'll do my best to keep him in character.

[About the heroine]

A timid office worker who goes about her work in constant fear and anxiety.

At first, she's been conditioned by the Heavenly Court's system and can't see her own worth or recognize her abilities.

In the middle and later parts, the Great Sage will inspire her to gradually rise up and eventually rebel.

Is this kind of a coming-of-age story?

It's called a Journey to the West crossover, but really, it just mixes together different versions of Journey to the West, plus all sorts of spin-offs and side stories. Any interesting plot points will make it into the story.

Pure comedy. Life is hard, so I wanted to write myself something sweet.

Theme: Rebel against the feudal system and move toward a brighter tomorrow.
