An old-school story with a shamelessly cliched setup.
When Gu Liao transferred in, the top spot on the senior class ranking, which had been changing hands all along, finally became fixed. In his photo, he wore thin silver-framed glasses, his hair neatly combed, the corners of his mouth turned up, his eyes curved into a gentle smile. Later, someone stole that photo.

Fu Huai always thought the big brother next door who tutored him was the kind of person who was always smiling and very gentle. He carried the pleasant scent of honeysuckle. Every time he leaned close, Fu Huai felt as though that honeysuckle fragrance was about to drown him.
So Fu Huai, who always came in first, often used the excuse that a problem was difficult to ask him for help.

In public, Gu Liao was refined and elegant, bright and clear-eyed, an excellent student who was the envy of everyone's parents. In private, he was a rich young heir who could do it all: hang around bars, drink, smoke, and fight.
Maybe he put on such a convincing act that the kid next door kept asking him for help with homework. It was annoying, but luckily the kid was smart and picked things up at once, so Gu Liao could put up with him for now.
Until one day, Gu Liao was late for school. Before climbing over the wall, he wanted a cigarette. He lit the one hanging from his lips, turned his head, and spotted the kid standing at the gate, staring at him in a daze.
