Ni Wan first met Huo Yanzhi in a bar.
Unlike the decadent scene all around him, the man sat upright in the center of the room, his clothes immaculate and his expression obscured by the darkness, impossible to make out clearly.
As everyone raised their glasses and chatted, his gaze happened to sweep across her face.
The sudden eye contact startled Ni Wan. She hurriedly looked away and pretended nothing had happened, singing a melancholy Cantonese love song. She missed the playful, roguish smile tugging at the corner of Huo Yanzhi’s mouth.

The second time they met, Ni Wan was in trouble.
She held a broken bottle and stared at the man in front of her, stubborn and cool.
Just as the atmosphere grew hostile, a pair of long, pale hands took the weapon from her.
Huo Yanzhi stood tall behind her, backing her up. His sharp gaze swept over the man in front of them, and he said, “If you want to keep making trouble, I don’t mind taking this somewhere else.”
Night fell, and the wind cut to the bone.
Ni Wan huddled in his arms, her body trembling slightly.
After a long while, she looked up and met his indifferent gaze. “Why?” she asked softly.
The bright red on his fingertips was striking, and smoke drifted between them like a barrier, separating them from the world.
Huo Yanzhi smiled without answering. He simply straightened the suit jacket slipping from her shoulder and said calmly, “It’s getting late. I’ll take you home.”

Huo Yanzhi had had everything in the first half of his life, except love. He had always believed he had no need for such a false emotion, and that his family’s arranged marriages were nothing more than social performances.
He thought his life would probably go on like that, but fate brought Ni Wan to his side. At first, Huo Yanzhi merely envied her. Later, he truly fell in love with her.
Late one quiet night, he happened upon a poem:
“If someone gives you a lamp, I’ll give you the moon.”
His heart gave a start, and he looked at Ni Wan beside him.
The girl was like the moon hanging high in the sky. From then on, he kept her in his heart.
“If someone gives you a lamp, I’ll give you the moon.”

1. Seven-year age gap, 21 and 28.
2. One-on-one romance, both leads are sexually inexperienced. The heroine studies law. She isn’t timid, nor is she a delicate flower.
3. The heroine comes from a very wealthy family at first, but an unexpected turn of events occurs later. One more thing: neither lead is particularly kindhearted. They don’t go easy on anyone; they’re the type to repay every slight.
Theme: Love yourself well!
