Blurb:
[When surfing the internet, don't click on sketchy websites! Don't click on them!!]
Xu Shengnian, Jiang Pingzhou, Lei Shaojun, and Gu Liang were all victims of this kind of junk ad.
At first, they filled out an online survey just for fun. They thought the words "the state will assign you a partner" were complete nonsense, but they had no idea that "the state" in question wasn't the country. It didn't take long for them to realize they'd gotten themselves into serious trouble!
The first to fall victim was the eldest in their dorm, Xu Shengnian.
A strapping northerner, over six feet tall, was taking a perfectly ordinary shower when he suddenly vanished.
Jiang Pingzhou and the other two were right outside, but they didn't hear a thing. By the time they realized something was wrong, it was too late.
The sudden disappearance of a student soon brought the police to the school.
But no matter how hard they searched, they couldn't find the slightest clue. It was as if Xu Shengnian had simply vanished into thin air.
The police began keeping the three likeliest suspects, Jiang Pingzhou, Lei Shaojun, and Gu Liang, under surveillance. They were furious, but had no way to explain themselves.
Soon, however, they realized things weren't as simple as they'd thought. A month after Xu Shengnian disappeared, Jiang Pingzhou vanished too.
It was just like Final Destination, but in real life.
Sure enough, Lei Shaojun and Gu Liang couldn't escape the same fate.
Before Gu Liang disappeared, however, he left the police an important clue: everyone in their dorm had filled out a survey from a junk ad together.
Gu Liang had given up hope of a different fate. Before returning to the dorm, he'd already said goodbye to his family, but he hoped the police could stop another tragedy from happening after he was gone.
Gu Liang's premonition was right. After "devouring" the four of them, that junk-ad website still wasn't satisfied. It began searching their world for new prey...
[Reading Notes]:
1. This is an anthology series. The stories are connected, but each can also be read on its own.
2. This is not a typical Zerg story!!! I've heard Zerg stories can be pretty brutal, so I wanted to give you a heads-up. I'm open to constructive criticism and suggestions, and if you're really not enjoying it, feel free to vent a little, but please don't keep attacking the author! We have no grudge against each other, so let's not hurt one another. I'm writing this for fun, and you can read it for fun. If it's not your thing, just click away.
3. As for trigger warnings, honestly, I don't know how to categorize them, so you'd better read a few chapters first. Who doesn't love a god-tier author? But very few writers are good enough to reach that level. I'm working toward it, so here's a little spot to sit and make a wish.
4. This is a top-focused story. The blurb sounds a little sad, but don't worry, it won't be angsty. The early chapters are just buildup, and the ending will be happy.
Theme: Face your difficulties. No matter how hard it gets, you have to keep going.
