I Got a Government Job After Becoming a Ghost

[Naive little ghost x inscrutable Taoist priest]

Everyone knows that when a person dies, their light goes out. What they don't know is that those who die with deep regrets cannot enter the cycle of reincarnation.

He Luoluo died with no wishes or attachments, yet she still couldn't find release.

During the three years after her death, she watched her father lose all will to live, her eldest sister stop wielding her spear, her eldest brother burn his entire collection of books, and her second brother close every pharmacy.

Her father hated himself for being able to turn the world upside down, yet unable to save her.

Her eldest sister hated herself for being so brave, yet unable to protect her.

Her eldest brother hated himself for being able to calculate everything, yet unable to foresee this.

Her second brother hated himself for being able to bring the dead back to life, yet unable to cure her.

They turned their home into a living hell, devoting themselves to the art of bringing the dead back to life. They summoned spirits everywhere, yet could never summon the person they longed for.

He Luoluo was heartbroken and helpless, until she bumped into a Taoist priest who didn't look like a very good person and somehow ended up with a government job.

She followed the priest to catch ghosts, encountering a thousand souls and a thousand grievances, and easing countless lingering regrets.

She accumulated immeasurable merit, all so her family could find release.

Only later did she understand: one thought held fast brings endless suffering; one thought let go brings boundless freedom.

To save others is also to save yourself.

On the road to the underworld, someone stood at the bridge and slowly took He Luoluo's hand. He said, "The road to the underworld is long. How could I let you walk it alone?"

Looking back on all that came before, through that long road, she had never been alone.
