Blurb:
Jiang Xuerong died in Xiang Riqing's arms. His scalding tears fell onto her frost-cold lashes, and his hands shook as he held her.
At the moment her consciousness faded into nothingness, she heard him laugh. "Senior Sister, let me stay by your side. This time... you can't send me away."
"Senior Sister, do you know? I like you."
"I've liked you for a long time."
When Jiang Xuerong woke again, she had returned to the year before the disaster. Nothing had happened yet. There was still time to set everything right.
She could be a little kinder to herself, and a little kinder to her junior brother.
So she came right out and confessed to him.
And ended up under the influence of a love curse.
Junior Brother: Senior Sister is like an immortal, devoted to cultivation and ignorant of love. How could she possibly like me? She must be under a love curse?! Sob, sob, but her eyes really are so gentle. Sob, sob, but I can't take advantage of her. I'll definitely help Senior Sister break the curse. Sob, sob, but she said such sweet things to me. Break the curse, don't break the curse, break the curse, don't break the curse, break the curse...
Jiang Xuerong: ...Whatever makes you happy.
*
Xiang Riqing never dared believe that the senior sister he cherished in his heart could like him.
"Senior Sister, you're acting this way because you're under a love curse. I'll help you break it." He rejected her with those words time and again, and reminded himself of them again and again.
So when she confessed, he didn't dare believe her. When she kissed him, he didn't dare believe her. Not until that night...
Xiang Riqing finally had to admit that, in this false love, he had surrendered long ago. Every inch of his body was burning and crying out: Why not accept her? She said she likes you, didn't she?
He bewitched himself with those thoughts and let himself indulge just once, sinking into this love without a care.
But the next day, he saw the senior sister whose curse had been broken. "Junior Brother, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have forced you, but you know I only acted that way because I was under a love curse."
The blood boiling through his body froze in an instant.
That's right. How could he have forgotten?
She didn't really like him.
P.S.:
1. The rebirth takes place in Chapter Five, but I don't recommend skipping ahead.
2. One-on-one, both leads are each other's first, happy ending!!! A bittersweet romance, not angsty!!!
3. My own low-magic cultivation system.
Coming soon: "Bringing Home the Merman I Lost" blurb:
Chen Rui, who hated trouble, once raised a merman.
It had sharp teeth, sharp nails, a beautiful fish tail, and a pair of lake-blue eyes. It was vain and fussy, and spent all day pestering her to make the freshest fish soup and the prettiest shell bed.
Then one day, it disappeared.
She didn't look for it and went on living her quiet life without a merman.
Until she got a book.
In the book, the merman was the heroine's most obedient tool. She found him when he had lost his memories. To repay her kindness, he gave her a pearl when she was broke, shielded her from harm when she was in danger, and cut his wrist to give her his blood when she was injured.
Chen Rui, meanwhile, was a nameless cannon-fodder character whose role was to give up her life at just the right moment, making the heartbroken merman devote himself to the kind heroine who comforted and stayed by his side.
Chen Rui quietly finished the book, then spent the whole night sharpening a knife on the bluestone the merman used to rub its scales. She turned around and went straight to the heroine's sect.
*
When she saw the merman again, he was blocking Chen Rui's knife for the heroine.
Chen Rui gave him a cool glance, turned, and left without a word. She paid no attention to the sobbing heroine or to him as he reached out in confusion.
That night, somehow, the merman climbed into the room of that strange woman, only for her to grab him by the throat and pin him against the wall.
He stared at her, baring his sharp teeth. A whimper that sounded like both a warning and a complaint rose from his throat, while his dehydrated, pathetic tail curled around the human before him with practiced, docile ease.
Chen Rui wasn't one for talking, so she couldn't be bothered to ask questions. She just stroked his sharp teeth, bit by bit, and asked, "Do you want to come with me?"
He didn't answer. His fangs kept extending and retracting as if they were broken. He didn't dare bite her, and his lake-blue eyes were filled with a tension he couldn't explain.
She got tired of waiting and simply pressed down on his head until he nodded.
So the merman "obediently" followed Chen Rui home.
She put a new bite guard on him, filed down his nails with the knife she'd sharpened, and pushed him into the pool. As she stroked his beautiful fish tail, now restored, she caught the luminous pearls that fell one after another.
P.S. One-on-one, a sweet story about saving each other, happy ending.
P.P.S. The merman is underage and genderless in the first half, and Chen Rui raises it as a pet, so it is referred to as "it." When they reunite in the second half, the merman has reached adulthood and developed into a man, so he is referred to as "he." The romance begins in earnest then.
Theme: Be brave and pursue the one you love.
