Yu “Three Years Without Publicity” Xiuyi answers decisively: “I'll do it. Who's my partner? Oh, it doesn't matter who. If he tells me to go east, I won't go west. I'll serve him tea, bring him water, massage his shoulders, rub his legs. I'll be the perfect boyfriend, a model of devotion!”

Agent: “Your ex, Ling Yi.”

At the dating show, the other “couples” are sweet and affectionate, while Yu Xiuyi and Ling Yi, forced to take part in the show, can't stand the sight of each other. They hold their noses and pretend to be a couple, causing chaos wherever they go:

During a game, the other boyfriends hold their partners and patiently show them how to play.

During the “Decorate Our Home” segment, the other boyfriends work hard for money in the town where the show is being filmed, while their partners carefully plan out the renovations and stretch every penny: “He works so hard to earn money. We should save wherever we can.”

Yu Xiuyi spends lavishly, picking only the most expensive options, not the best ones: “It's fine, he can earn more. Right, President Ling?”

Ling Yi swipes his card with an expressionless face: “If it doesn't look good, I'll hang you on the wall as a decoration.”

The two openly trade insults on the show, showing no signs of affection. Their agent is so anxious he's practically on fire, desperately signaling to Yu Xiuyi: “Where's your tea-serving, shoulder-rubbing, perfect-boyfriend act?”

Oh, right.

Yu Xiuyi immediately sidles up to Ling Yi, pulls down half his collar to expose one shoulder, and urges him: “I'm thirsty. Get me tea and water. My shoulder hurts too. Hurry up, rub my shoulders and legs!”

Yu Xiuyi makes an “OK” sign at his agent. The perfect boyfriend will be ready in a second.

When the dating show ends, Yu Xiuyi's contract is about to be terminated. Happily carrying his termination papers, he's about to go ask the boss to sign them when he sees through a crack in the door that Ling Yi is sitting in the boss's chair, while the boss sits below him, deferentially.

“President Ling, we've put Teacher Yu on the dating show as you requested. Here's Teacher Yu's contract.”
