Recuperating

Her grandmaster died at thirty-two.

Her master kicked the bucket at thirty.

Looking at the rows upon rows of memorial tablets, Shi Dai saw that not a single person in her sect had made it past forty.

That was their whole thing: dying young.

Shi Dai carried on her sect's fine tradition. She had died three times, and not once had she lived to eighteen.

The System said this was her fate. What kind of happy ending could a great villain in a book expect? Dying without a proper burial would be a mercy.

It proudly declared: I, the Villain Redemption System, am your only choice.

Don't choose me, and you die!

Dying three times didn't make Shi Dai obedient. It drove her completely insane.

Shi Dai told the System she had figured it out.

In everyone else's eyes, Shi Dai was a sickly person with little time left. They'd do well to squeeze every last bit of value out of her before she died.

But gradually, people began to realize that what was terminally ill wasn't her body,

but her brain.

Shi Dai stared at the System, her eyes icy.

As it died, the System roared furiously: So what the hell did you figure out back then?!

Shi Dai had a bad temper, a strange disposition, and was shrouded in the overwhelming resentment of all living things.

Yet more and more people gathered around her, hoping to help care for this mentally ill girl and nurse her back to health.
