Ying Jiawu: QAQ Convinced that he was such a useless sidekick that he'd be abandoned sooner or later, Ying Jiawu spent all night agonizing over it. With dark circles under his eyes, he almost arrived late to school. He never expected Xu Chengqi to be standing at the school gate, silently watching him. When Xu Chengqi saw him hurry over, he went inside. Ying Jiawu: So that means he agrees? Ying Jiawu spent a whole year nervously serving as Xu Chengqi's sidekick. Nobody bullied him, and he graduated without a hitch. As his sidekick days were about to end, Ying Jiawu thanked Xu Chengqi from the bottom of his heart and wished him all the best in the future. But while he was still going on and on, someone suddenly grabbed his wrist and shoved him against the wall. Ying Jiawu looked up in confusion and saw Xu Chengqi's cool, handsome face drawing closer, a sneer on his lips. "You don't actually think I let you get close to me for a whole year just because I wanted you as my lackey, do you?" Ying Jiawu: Huh... Wasn't that it? The next second, Xu Chengqi listed off, expressionless, all the perks Ying Jiawu had enjoyed as his sidekick over the past year. "I did your homework for you." "You got the snacks you wanted every day." "I even played all the games you wanted to play with you." "Ying Jiawu... Do you think there's any sidekick who's had it better than you?" Ying Jiawu: I... I guess not? Wait, had I really been living that comfortably? 2. Xu Chengqi had never met anyone like Ying Jiawu before. He had a pretty face, and deliberately stared at him with a pair of eyes no one could refuse. He was adorable. Whether he was getting every answer wrong while helping with homework, or apologizing with tear-filled eyes after realizing his mistake, he was adorable. He was also adorable when he was so oblivious that he thought nobody liked him, and even ran to Xu Chengqi for protection, convinced he was being bullied. When Xu Chengqi forgot his umbrella on a rainy day and came down with a fever, Ying Jiawu even thought it was his own fault. Ying Jiawu's fault? Xu Chengqi recalled how he had stayed out in the rain all afternoon until he successfully came down with a fever, how he had immediately handed in Ying Jiawu's answers despite knowing they were wrong, and how he had deliberately made Ying Jiawu fall and kiss him, then shyly apologize... He nodded. Ying Jiawu really was at fault. His mistake was choosing Xu Chengqi. He'd never get to leave for the rest of his life. Core message: Treasure every connection you make.
