[A sunny foodie heroine who's amazing at cooking and eating x a young general full of passion and unwavering sincerity]
Food blogger Jiang Lingyue transmigrates.
When she opens her eyes, she's on the road with a family being exiled. Worried she'd die before long, she immediately gets to work figuring out the situation!
The good news: Her own family isn't the one being exiled.
The bad news: Her family are loyal servants to the Zhou family, who are being exiled. Her parents would gladly take their masters' place, escorting them a thousand miles, and even want to settle near the border.
Just as she thinks she's landed a story about "standing up to my foolish parents," "striking out on my own," and "a transmigrated woman struggling to survive on the frontier," she discovers that the Zhou family truly did a great kindness for the Jiang family. The exiled Miss Zhou doesn't put on airs, and Young Master Zhou is well-read, gentle, and courteous.
And her own family didn't come to the frontier solely out of gratitude. Life on the border isn't all that hard, either.
This border town grows crops to feed the troops. Its location isn't ideal, with sweltering summers and chilly winters, but because of its position, soldiers and their families are everywhere. The streets are full of walking wallets with enormous appetites. For the sake of a better life, Jiang Lingyue picks up her spatula and returns to her old trade, opening a little food stall~
"Sizzling, stir-fried, deep-fried; sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy; aromas wafting through a thousand homes." With her excellent cooking, Jiang Lingyue's little tavern is always bustling with customers. From handsome young officers on the battlefield to the rank-and-file soldiers in camp, nobody can stop thinking about the food at Boss Jiang's little place!
Jiang Lingyue: Wielding my spatula! I'll be the frontier's number one small business owner!
One night, while on duty, General Xu overhears the soldiers standing watch chatting:
"My wish is to go eat one of Shopkeeper Jiang's glutinous rice chickens tomorrow!"
"Chicken? That's nothing! I want fermented rice wine duck!"
"Chicken and duck are nothing. I want Dongpo pork!"
Then comes a chorus of rumbling stomachs. Young General Xu hears them and says, "Have some dignity! Sitting here talking about food in the middle of the night!"
Everyone falls silent. The next day, they all rush to the little tavern and happen to discover the general in the kitchen, chopping meat, scaling fish, picking vegetables, and washing dishes for the proprietress!
Wait! By that logic, doesn't that mean the general made the food on the table!?
Everyone rejoices and tucks in, only to discover that it really does taste even better!
A warm and comforting food-filled everyday-life story, mostly about eating, drinking, and having fun, with a touch of an ensemble cast and few awful characters. Just for a bit of joy~ Coming soon, please add it to your library.
