Ye Jun opened his eyes to find himself inside a melodramatic boys' love school novel, as the rich second-generation villain's henchman: a foolish, loaded rich kid who was only interested in making life difficult for the protagonist.
The villain had everything, yet inexplicably insisted on opposing the protagonist, and ended up with his family ruined, his fortune gone, and a tragic death from the cold beneath an overpass.
Ye Jun was not about to do that. How could picking a fight with the protagonist be more important than studying?
The rivalry plot began, and Henchman No. 1 came to him with a whole slew of melodramatic ideas.
Ye Jun handed him a Chinese textbook. "Learning grammar is important."
Henchman No. 2 brought along a crowd, planning to resort to violence.
Ye Jun calmly pulled out a civics textbook. "Harmony, civility, and friendship. You should read up on them."
Henchman No. 3 combined the ideas above and concluded they should lure someone into the woods and beat him up.
Ye Jun smiled and tossed him a copy of the Wusan exam-prep books. "Use your brains for the right things."
Yan Yuan had known since he could remember that he was in a novel. Every day, he had to face a fixed plot, and no matter what he did, he could never escape it.
When the plot came around, he watched someone charge toward him from a distance, looking ready for a fight. His face expressionless, Yan Yuan thought, Here we go again.
As the other boy drew closer, Yan Yuan asked coldly, "Where are we fighting?"
Ye Jun looked up, puzzled. Another henchman? He deftly pulled out his civics textbook. "We're building a harmonious society. We don't fight."
Yan Yuan stared at the civics textbook being handed to him: ?
Ye Jun's henchmen: !!
Everyone knew Ye Jun and Yan Yuan were at odds. They were always arranging to go fight each other.
Every time they came back, Ye Jun would be red-faced and unhappy, while Yan Yuan would be beaming.
Everyone else: Just as we'd heard, they really can't stand each other.
But where no one could see, Yan Yuan pinned Ye Jun in a corner, his voice charged with suggestive warmth. "Hey, classmate, how about we date, hmm?"
Pinned in the corner, Ye Jun thought: ...This isn't how the plot is supposed to go! I just want to study!
