Trapped by the Bright Moon

In the fifth year of Qingyuan, the Duke Who Guards the Nation, Wei Jingzhi, returned to court after a victorious campaign. An old wound reopened along the way, forcing him to recuperate at a country estate.

That night, a storm poured down. Someone knocked on the estate's wooden gate: a beautiful woman.

Her almond-shaped eyes glistened with tears, and the rain had soaked her hair and clothes. After begging outside for a long time, she softened Wei Jingzhi's heart, and he let her in to take shelter.

As they talked, Wei Jingzhi unexpectedly learned that the woman was the newlywed wife of his second younger brother.

She had been married less than three months when his good-for-nothing brother drove her back to her parents' home. He hadn't even returned her dowry.

Wei Jingzhi was furious and wanted to drag the bastard in to answer for his actions.

As it happened, they were both heading back to the capital, and she was so strikingly beautiful that Wei Jingzhi decided to look after her along the way.

But as he looked after her, his feelings for her slowly grew.

Since he couldn't let her go, Wei Jingzhi decided to make her his and never let her suffer the slightest grievance again.

[Bonus scene]

After driving away his wife for the sake of his childhood sweetheart and cousin, Wei Shu deeply regretted it and gradually realized who he truly loved.

He traveled a thousand miles to the capital, planning to attend his elder brother's wedding before going to find Jiang Ruoyue and setting things straight with her.

Jiang Ruoyue was gentle and had no one to rely on. If he changed his mind and took her back, she certainly wouldn't refuse.

As one fan poem after another was recited, the round fan painted with lovebirds drew aside, revealing a face as beautiful as peach blossoms.

A hibiscus-like face, a beauty mark, a familiar countenance and scene. His soul abruptly left him.
