As a low-ranking member of the divine realm, Yulia's job had always been to diligently stand guard at the gate. Then, at the millennial conference on humanity's survival, the gods decreed that humankind should be wiped out. To ensure humanity's survival while upholding the gods' dignity, humans and gods began one-on-one death matches called Ragnarok.
...But for all its seriousness and grandeur, an event on this scale obviously had nothing to do with a lowly gatekeeper like Yulia. He would surely be one of the countless background figures in the audience.
Yet the gods who died in the daytime death matches began appearing in his dreams at night.
First, some unknown mastermind: [This is a dream you can't escape unless you do it]. Then the gods not only scolded him for being heartless and indifferent, but also tried to force their love on him.
Yulia: ? You've got to be kidding me. How am I supposed to realize that all these people, who never even give me a decent look, are secretly pining for me? I'm not some devious little masochist.
By day, he struggled to survive in the crossfire between gods and humans. By night, he had to deal with dreams full of melodrama.
He could grit his teeth and put up with that, but if the gods wanted to force their love on him, that was one thing. Why were the humans joining in too?
Yulia (dazed): ...Is this a punishment for humanity, or for me?
To the mastermind dragging these people into my dreams, please, I beg you, stop using your powers.
Before you start:
1. This is a Record of Ragnarok fanfic. The characters come from mythology and history, but they might not be quite what you're used to. You don't need to have read the manga, though. Just watch me do my thing (x).
2. I'm putting my kinks out there. I wrote it for fun, so have fun reading it, meow.
3. No-brain, everyone-has-a-one-sided-crush-on-the-hero harem story. "You, with the thick eyebrows, like the protagonist?" "What, you too, villain?" "And you, who already have a canon partner?" Why does everyone like the protagonist? This kind of "flaw" is the norm. If you want logic or dislike harem stories, proceed with caution (putting on my armor!).
4. Inspired by the stories The Wife of the Noh Master and Ode to a Flower's Torment from The Love of the Evening Primrose. Highly recommended.
