The Zhi family was on the brink of bankruptcy. Memories of the past flashed through her mind, and only then did Zhi Er remember that the man before her was the unlucky ex-boyfriend she had sweet-talked into dating years ago, only to dump him once she had grown tired of him.

The man wore a bespoke suit, broad-shouldered and slim-waisted, tall and lean, with a distinguished yet aloof air. “Zhi Er,” he said. “Long time no see.”

After learning why she had come, the man swirled the whiskey in his glass and mocked her nonchalantly. “What makes you think I’d help a woman who once wronged me?”

Zhi Er: “...” Sorry to bother you.

But later, when Zhi Er went looking for other ways to get help, he cornered her against the wall, his expression gloomy. “Giving up already? Who else are you planning to beg?”

He lifted her chin, his eyes bloodshot and his voice hoarse. “You can only beg me.”

His kiss landed gently. “Beg me, and I’ll say yes.”
