If Secret Love Had a Sound

When she was thirteen, Su He fell in love at first sight with Shen Huaixu, the boy who had just moved into her residential compound.

The boy was handsome, quiet, and not much of a talker. Even when he was bullied, all he did was offer a faint smile.

Only later did Su He learn that Shen Huaixu had been hard of hearing since childhood. Her compassion overflowing, she took it upon herself to protect him.

They say shooting stars can grant wishes. That summer, Su He stared at the sky every night.

One day, she really did see a star streak across the night sky. She immediately made a wish: that her mom would stop cutting her hair short, that lovestruck girl Zhou Tangtang would find her Prince Charming, that the little devil Jiang Yue would stop fighting and turn over a new leaf, and that poor, bullied Shen Huaixu would be cured and make something of himself.

When their youth had passed, the boys and girls of the past had all left the small residential compound behind, shedding their childishness and growing into adults.

When Su He met Shen Huaixu again, he had become a promising young SWAT officer.

He was still as quiet and taciturn as he had been when they were young. The difference was that this time, he was the one protecting her.

Su He had never told anyone that when she made her wish that year, she had secretly told the shooting star that she hoped one day Shen Huaixu would hear the sound of her secret love.

So when Shen Huaixu gave her his most precious medal as a protective charm, she thought that the legend of shooting stars really wasn't a lie.
