Falling

Blurb:

In college, Lin Ran fell for Fu Ye, the student council president.

He was a rebellious playboy, going through one girlfriend after another.

Before graduation, Lin Ran worked up the courage to confess to him.

Fu Ye held a cigarette between his fingers and looked at her through the drifting smoke. "You like me?"

Lin Ran nodded.

He curled his lips in a casual smile. "How much?"

After a moment's hesitation, Lin Ran leaned over and took a little puff from his cigarette, only to choke as the smoke flooded her throat, turning her face bright red.

Fu Ye froze for a moment, then pushed her away. "Sorry, you're not right for me."

When they met again, Fu Ye was a celebrated race car driver, while Lin Ran had become a special correspondent for the country's biggest magazine.

At a banquet, Lin Ran's gentle features and cool aura caught the attention of many of the male guests as soon as she arrived.

Just as she deftly handled the men trying to chat her up, Fu Ye slowly approached from across the room, holding a glass of wine.

"Miss Lin, long time no see."

Seeing that familiar yet unfamiliar face again, Lin Ran's long-sealed heart quietly cracked open, just a tiny bit. It hurt, and it itched.

From then on, she did everything she could to avoid him, passing every interview with him on to someone else.

Until one day.

Fu Ye cornered her in a secluded spot and gripped her wrist, pinning her in place with no way out.

His warm breath brushed her ear as he spoke, his words as carefree and flirtatious as ever.

"Why are you hiding? Have you forgotten what you once told me?"

"That I liked you?" Lin Ran wrenched her hand free and met his gaze stubbornly. "Never again."
