The idea I came up with later goes something like this: the gong is a god-made being, like Yanyan from next door. The shou is a mission-taker. He got together with the gong but had a white moonlight, and because of that white moonlight, the gong was formatted. The gong switched careers and became a System. He no longer remembers the shou, treats him coldly, and subconsciously pushes him away.

Haven't decided whether it'll have a happy or open ending.
