Thoughts Without End

As a noble young lady of the Great Liang Dynasty, Yi Ling should have had a smooth and happy life. But when it came to marriage, she fell into the clutches of the treacherous minister Xie Hengzhi. When she became engaged to her childhood friend, the young heir to a marquis's estate, Xie Hengzhi framed his family for treason. They were arrested, their home confiscated, and their heads chopped off, all in one neat package. When she next took a fancy to the newly crowned top scorer in the imperial examinations, witnesses brought by Xie Hengzhi accused him of cheating. The top scorer became a prisoner, living a fate worse than death. At last, she set her sights on the spirited commander of the Imperial Guard, a rising star at court. On the day of their wedding, war broke out in the southeast. At Xie Hengzhi's command, the commander's wedding robes became armor, and he was sent to the frontier, with no end in sight to his absence. Rumor had it that Xie Hengzhi was surely in love with Yi Ling. By the time even Yi Ling believed it, Xie Hengzhi had raised his bow without hesitation and shot her dead on the battlefield. As she died, she made two wishes: first, that in her next life she would stay far away from Xie Hengzhi, her personal curse; second, that he would die a horrible death. She closed her eyes, then opened them, but instead of reincarnating, she found herself in the body of Xie Hengzhi's newlywed wife. Her vision went black, and she collapsed onto the bed. This life was ruined too. A moment later, she sat bolt upright despite her failing health. Maybe she could do something about that second wish. The shameful past is nothing to boast of; now, the heart longs for boundless freedom. *A cowardly, death-fearing nuisance VS a smiling tiger who lives by the sword *The setting is very loosely based on history *Updated daily at 6 p.m. Theme: Cherish life and love living
