Spring's Forbidden Flames

1.

Xie Yuan and Yuan Wenfei have been childhood friends for fourteen years.

They smile sweetly on the surface.

In truth, they can't stand each other.

Xie Yuan thinks he's a sharp-tongued chatterbox, while Yuan Wenfei thinks she's a smiling fox.

2.

Their public friendship seemed so convincing that their elders truly thought they were in love. After sharing a few drinks, the two families arranged their marriage.

Xie Yuan: ?

Yuan Wenfei: ?

The Xie elders asked, baffled, “Didn't you get drunk and cry your eyes out last time, saying you loved the young master of the Yuan family so much you'd marry no one else?”

The Yuan elders asked, confused, “Didn't you say there wasn't another girl in the world as gentle and considerate as the Third Miss of the Xie family?”

Xie Yuan: Heh.

Yuan Wenfei: Heh.

The two stormed over to confront each other. They got into a scuffle, and someone caught them rolling around on the ground. Xie Yuan nearly passed out from embarrassment, while Yuan Wenfei got a scolding and a whipping, and could only appeal to Heaven to tell right from wrong.

3.

Heaven took a nap.

And tied two people who couldn't stand each other together.

On their wedding day, Xie Yuan couldn't even be bothered to keep up appearances. She took out paper and ink and laid down three rules for him.

“Three rules of our marriage contract: no sharing a pillow, no getting too close, and no sleeping in the same bed.”

“No falling in love.”

Whoever breaks the rules is a little dog.

After the wedding.

Yuan Wenfei: “Wait, you left your little dog behind.”
