After the Divorce, I Raised Cats, Caught Ghosts, and Became the New Dynasty's Imperial Preceptor

Two years into their marriage, Mo Miao was always away from home overnight.

Yun Qiao endured two years of a marriage in name only. Unable to take it anymore, he chose to divorce.

-

On the day Yun Qiao left the Mo residence, he found a black cat at the gate.

The cat sat obediently by the entrance, looking up at him with pitiful eyes. Yun Qiao's heart softened, and, almost without thinking, he took it home.

He named it Mo Miaomiao.

Well, it was a memento of their two years together. Besides... there was something about this cat's eyes that reminded him of that jerk, Mo Miao.

Yun Qiao returned to the Taoist temple his master had left him and began training to become a Taoist priest. Once he'd made a little progress, he spent his free time helping the locals capture demons and drive away ghosts. With a kitten to look after, his days were quite peaceful.

Then chaos broke out, and Yun Qiao and the little black cat were swept up in the war.

When Yun Qiao saw how many demons and monsters were on the battlefield, he grabbed his gear and got to work.

As he busied himself, he gained a large following among the people and became known as Immortal Yun.

The new emperor sought him out by reputation and insisted on appointing him Imperial Preceptor.

Yun Qiao had no interest in fame or fortune, so he accepted the title and carried on exorcising demons and ghosts.

But why was the little black cat starting to look more and more like his ex-husband?

From the gong's perspective:

Mo Miao was a nine-lived cat demon who hadn't yet taken human form. But after falling in love with Yun Qiao, he insisted on transforming early.

He succeeded, but there were a few problems.

For example, whenever night fell, some of his original form would show: cat paws, cat ears, a tail, and so on.

And whenever he got too emotional, he would turn completely back into a cat and be unable to change back for a while.

This gave Mo Miao a real headache.

His husband had grown up in a Taoist temple and had very little tolerance for demons and spirits! If Yun Qiao found out he was a cat demon, he'd definitely angrily throw him out of the house.

He wanted so badly to cuddle up to Yun Qiao.

But every time he got the urge, his true form would show. He couldn't cuddle up to Yun Qiao at all!

Ah! This was driving a cat crazy!

To keep Yun Qiao from suspecting anything, Mo Miao could only hide away and cultivate, hoping to stabilize his human form as soon as possible.

After two years of this, Yun Qiao wanted a divorce.

Mo Miao's heart shattered into tiny pieces.

Later, Mo Miao returned to his original form and stayed by Yun Qiao's side, somehow receiving hugs, caresses, and kisses.

Mo Miao, so happy he could die: Hehe, hehe. I'll never be human again.
