Defying One's Superior (Pseudo Father and Son)

"I fell in love with my adoptive father. He knows, but pretends not to.

He doesn't belong in this world. I know, but pretend not to.

My adoptive father grants my every wish, even when it brings him harm. I don't feel sorry for him at all, because he owed me this in his previous life."

Ruan Mingyu's diary

A piece of gossip has recently rocked Huacheng: the second son of the Ruan family, who had been living away from home, has returned. They say he grew up in the mountains, is uncouth and unsophisticated, and is nowhere near as impressive as the Ruan family's eldest son.

But when Ruan Mingyu made his first appearance, he was composed and unflappable, with the bearing of a true young noble raised by an ancient aristocratic family. Everyone who had been waiting to laugh at him was left dumbfounded.

What puzzled people, though, was that the second young master Ruan had brought his mountain-dwelling adoptive father back with him.

Ruan Mingyu has no interest in business, but he won't let the estate that rightfully belonged to his mother fall into the hands of scum. He sends his half-brother to prison, his ungrateful biological father to a psychiatric hospital, and entrusts the Ruan family's business to professional managers.

Then he devotes himself to pursuing his adoptive father.

In his previous life, Shen Lan was an immortal who cultivated the Way of Emotionlessness, while Ruan Mingyu was a mortal of extraordinary talent. They were close friends, but fate played a cruel trick on them: Ruan Mingyu died tragically before Shen Lan's eyes. Shen Lan's Dao heart shattered, and he broke through the limits of the laws of the world to reach the world where Ruan Mingyu had been reborn, hoping to protect him for the rest of his life.

But he never expected that the Ruan Mingyu of his previous life, who had kept his feelings buried deep inside, would be reborn in this life as an adorably straightforward puppy and launch an all-out pursuit of him.

Note: They are not biologically father and son. The old immortal has no concept of the law and never registered the adoption. First love for both. A feel-good story with no concern for logic. Please don't flame if it's not to your taste.
