"That official was summoned to Zhengde Palace by Her Highness the Princess again after court."

"That's because Her Highness is kind and beautiful, and doesn't know how sinister people can be."

"Using cuteness to win her favor? What a disgrace to officials and scholars alike. It couldn't be more... revolting."

"Hmph! Do they think it's so easy to cling to the favor of our peerless, revered Princess, adored by the people and sought after by talented scholars? When Her Highness comes to her senses and that official falls out of favor, I hope they don't start weeping and wailing."

The spies eavesdropping around the corner murmured, "Well... maybe not. The Princess might actually be into that sort of thing?"

Before long, the Regent Princess received word and gazed with a smile at the young woman in her arms, who was playfully squirming away.

The young woman, successfully settled on her lap and enjoying a little fondling, offered a faint protest. "I-I'm not acting cute."

"Hm?" A brief look of confusion crossed her gentle, serene face. "You're not?"

"That's... that's not how it is."

The dignified, elegant Regent Princess pondered for a moment. "Hmm... you're right. Even if my beloved courtier's mouth is stubborn, it's soft when I kiss it."
