Ingersoll, the God of Magic who protected the world's barrier, fell into a dimensional rift while fighting an outer god. When he opened his eyes, he discovered that he had become a young master whose magic circuits were completely ruined.
Once he figured out what had happened, he realized this was the world a thousand years after his death.
.
Magical civilization had collapsed, countless spells had been lost, and the status of magicians had plummeted. They could no longer shoulder the responsibility of protecting the world. They had been replaced by all kinds of superpowered people and guns and ammunition.
Creatures from beyond the stars had returned and were steadily encroaching on the world. The defenses of human civilization were on the verge of collapse.
Ingersoll, now a forgotten legend whose statue was barely recognizable to anyone: ...?
...Never mind. I'll build a new magic school and revive magic from scratch.
.
In the thousand years since the God of Magic fell, his family, friends, and apprentices had suffered heavy casualties defending the world's barrier. The survivors were gravely wounded and beyond healing. They changed their names and disappeared into the river of history.
Then one day, the great figures who had become legends over the long course of history suddenly jolted awake on their deathbeds. Even those who had died became ghosts, trembling as they crawled out of their coffins:
Holy crap, did I wake up too soon? That's the magical aura of a loved one/friend/mentor/rival who died a thousand years ago!
Help me up, my lord/my king/this venerable one! I have to go see him!
.
The outer god had transmigrated to the future with Ingersoll, but had been suppressed by him and reduced to a single thread of consciousness. It spent every day mocking him inside his head: Heh heh heh, look at this miserable, laughable world. Look at your ruined body, which can't even cast a fireball! You're completely screwed, Ingersoll!
Later, after watching helplessly as the world's barrier was restored and the demon realm was sealed away for good, the outer god could only stare in disbelief: ...? What the hell?
