The Little Widow Is a Fox Spirit [The 1980s]

The little fox Hu Jingjing fails her tribulation and unexpectedly transmigrates into the body of a charming young wife in the 1980s. On the very night the bride enters her new home, her husband dies because of her. From then on, everyone in the village calls her a walking bad omen.

Later, the words “fox spirit” become the villagers' favorite insult. But to their surprise, the more they curse her, the more alluring and bewitching she becomes, as if she had taken an elixir.

Hu Jingjing can't help it. After all, she really is a fox spirit. To keep her beautiful face and stay young forever, she has to devour the malice and resentment of humans...

Then a young official is assigned to the village. Hu Jingjing is surprised to find that not only is her doorstep no longer filthy and smelly, but someone has even helped her plaster a wall to keep those stinking men from peeking at her.

One day, he happens upon her with red-rimmed eyes. The young widow's face is delicate, her eyes brimming with tears, and she looks ready to cry. The young official is at a loss and tries to comfort her: “You're no fox spirit. Someone like you must be a fairy from heaven...”
