Heading West

Half road trip, half city life

A deflated little fairy x a "wild" guide

At twenty-five, Xu You was diagnosed with cancer.

She steeled herself, quit her job, and headed west with a long list of things she still wanted to do in life.

She met Chen Hui while lost in the darkness. He had a crew cut, broad shoulders and a narrow waist, healthy skin, and a steady, sharp gaze.

From then on, she added one more thing to her list.

It took Xu You a month to make the northwestern winds and sands, clouds and moon witness his tenderness, one by one.

When they were lost in passion, he would call her name in a low, breathless voice and kiss her like a lover.

Xu You left without looking back after their brief affair.

Her cancer diagnosis had been a mistake. Xu You found a new job planning tours and returned to office-worker life.

On her first day, she saw a man in the hallway wearing a bespoke suit, elegant and aloof, sternly scolding a subordinate. The subordinate kept his head down, too scared to say a word.

The man sensed something and turned around.

Their eyes met.

Well, wasn't this the guide she'd used up and coldly abandoned?

The subordinate called him Mr. Chen.

Xu You thought life had suddenly gotten interesting.

After all, once you've tasted swan meat, you don't want anything else.
