Rose of No Man's Land

Qin Yan brushed the dust from the gravestone. The girl in the photo was at the prime of her youth, smiling with crescent-shaped eyes.

Qin Yan held two jugs of wine. He poured one out in front of the grave and drank from the other as he spoke.

"Ruan Wu, we agreed that I wouldn't wait for you after three years."

"But whenever I close my eyes at night, I still see you smiling at me."

He stroked the photo and said softly, "I forgot to bring you flowers. You won't blame me, will you?"

"Of course you will," Qin Yan said. "You can blame me until the day I come to find you."

After saying this, Qin Yan got up and left, his figure looking frail and alone. At first, he thought it was only a temporary parting, and that they would have another chance to meet someday. He never imagined it would be a final farewell.
