To save the struggling real estate market, seasoned corporate drone and property agent Liu Xuanyi took on a new gig: selling homes through livestreams.
To make money from livestreaming, he needed to put on a good show. Biting a lighter on camera didn't seem like a reliable gimmick.
So he livestreamed overnight stays in haunted houses.
The thoughtful System worried he might get scared, so it arranged for someone else to sleep with him. Er, stay overnight with him.
A haunted house is a home considered unlucky, where murders, accidental deaths, or hauntings have taken place.
To sell these houses, Liu Xuanyi had to find out what had made them haunted and prove firsthand that living in them posed no danger...
*
First haunted house: No one has lived in Apartment 1802 for ages, yet at midnight it always fills with the aroma of food and the clatter of a cleaver chopping bones.
Second haunted house: In a deserted, three-hundred-year-old mansion, someone has seen a two-meter-tall suit of armor in the courtyard, mechanically swinging its broadsword at thin air.
Third haunted house: A one-room apartment containing nothing but a roof beam, a white silk noose, and a stool.
Fourth haunted house: A post office that closed long ago, yet a mysterious letter is sent and received there at the same time every day.
(To be added as I write)...

System: [The Haunted House Overnight Stay System has been bound. Streamer, please begin your livestream. If you're scared, you can throw yourself into the arms of the person beside you.]
Liu Xuanyi swallowed and looked at Jing Lanqiao, who was tall and imposing but, in reality, even more terrified than he was. Then he tapped the start-streaming button on his device...
