Gentle Chains

[Add it to your collection to encourage the author to start this story!] A man as otherworldly as an immortal descended from heaven arrived in a small county town. Cool and aloof, handsome and elegant, with eyes as vast and misty as clouds, and a beauty mark beneath one eye that could steal anyone's soul. He was Ji Yunshang, the eldest young master of the Ji family in the capital. Rumor had it that the once-powerful Young Master Ji had changed his ways. He now spent his days listening to sutras in the Buddhist hall, surrounded by sandalwood incense, paying no heed to worldly affairs. That is, until one day, a lovely, spirited young pregnant woman was caught shoplifting at a little store in town and brought before Ji Yunshang. Ji Yunshang closed his eyes and prayed. After a long while, he said softly, "Yueyue, are you going to run away again?" "I sure am!" Wen Yue replied. "Brother, why have you started praying to Buddha? What a pretentious act!" Ji Yunshang lowered his eyes and smiled faintly. "I have a demon in my heart." Later, Ji Yunshang had Wen Yue thoroughly subdued. As she sobbed and trembled, she clung tightly to his waist, swearing she would never sneak out for ice cream again, and that she would love him most and never be able to leave him for the rest of her life. Ji Yunshang lowered his head and kissed Wen Yue's tear-reddened eyes. Only he knew that every second apart from her felt like falling into purgatory, tormenting him to the point of madness. Yueyue. His shackles, his demon. Theme: Love never fails.
