Little Zhizhi

Meimei, a golden-furred mouse spirit, accidentally broke her immediate superior's revolving heron lantern and was punished by being sent down to the mortal realm to bring back the immortal Qingliu, who had been gone for ages. Meimei was a little scared because she knew Qingliu's true form was a cat. “I'm not opposed to going back with you,” Qingliu said, cornering her against the wall. A hint of delight appeared in the corners of his eyes. “First, call me ‘big brother’ three times.” Meimei curled into a ball, too afraid to move. At last, she steeled herself and obediently called him that three times. Her little voice was sweet and trembling. Qingliu said nothing. Suddenly, he reached out to pinch her cheek, making her dart to the side in fright. So Meimei didn't see the faint blush that crept over the tips of his fair ears.
