At their high school graduation party, their classmates asked Xia Ling and Lu Chi, “You two have been classmates from first grade through your senior year. You must know each other pretty well by now, right?”
Lu Chi shook his head. “Honestly, we’ve barely said a few words to each other.”
Xia Ling murmured, “Mm,” and said nothing more.

After the party, Lu Chi walked Xia Ling home.
The night sky was full of stars, so many and so bright.
“Xia Ling,” Lu Chi called her name.
Xia Ling stopped. “What?”
Lu Chi took her hand. “Actually, I’ve been secretly paying attention to you for a long time. I’m really happy we got to be classmates for twelve years!”
“Why are you happy?” Xia Ling seemed eager to hear his answer.
Lu Chi looked at her. “Because I like you.”
Xia Ling smiled. “Me too.”
“Me too what?” Lu Chi wanted to know what she really meant.
“I’m happy we got to be classmates for twelve years, too.”
“And I really like you, too.”

Lu Chi said Xia Ling was like a star.
Radiant, adorable, one of a kind.
“Xia Ling, you’re the star I’ve kept hidden in my heart for so long.”
“But remember, you have to shine for the world.”
