One day after an argument, Lin Luoxue saw someone confessing to him.
The young man had just finished speeding around on his bike. He took off his helmet and looked at the person before him with cool indifference, roguishly handsome and wild, making every girl blush and swoon.
Her best friend clicked her tongue in amazement. "That's one seriously good catch, and he looks hard to win over. Do you think that girl can get him?"
Lin Luoxue fell silent, as if sensing something. Song Jingfan glanced over at her, and she angrily looked away.
He got off his bike and, under everyone's astonished gaze, crouched in front of her with a roguish grin. "Lin Meimei, are you jealous?"
"Afraid I'll fall for her?"
No one expected Song Jingfan to be pursuing her, but everyone thought he was just fooling around. Soon enough, the two really did break up.
Lin Luoxue disappeared, and Song Jingfan became even more reckless. Everyone assumed he didn't care.
On the night snow fell in Beicheng, he called her drunk, his ruined left hand in a sling, and rambled incoherently: "Lin Luoxue, love me. Humiliate me, lie to me, anything. I'll let bygones be bygones."
The surroundings were quiet, and the voice from the phone rang clearly in everyone's ears.
"Song Jingfan." She paused, then said scornfully, "Wake up. I was only getting revenge on you."
His eyes reddened. She couldn't even be bothered to lie to him anymore.
Everyone was stunned. He was the one who'd lost.

When they met again, snow was falling in Beicheng once more, and she was at her lowest.
In the corridor, Song Jingfan pinned her against the wall and sneered. "Back then, you said you loved me, like the endless daylight would never fade."
"When we were together, Lin Meimei." His burning thumb rubbed against the mark of a kiss, his gaze mocking. "Did you ever mean it, even a little?"
"I know you're sharp-tongued, awful, and heartless, but I love you.
When I see you upset and uneasy, awkwardly trying to hide it, I'll hold you without hesitation."
