[A new idea for the Son of Heaven series. Please add it to your collection, mwah!]
Yao Beibei is a Heavenly Dao.
Don't ask what a Heavenly Dao is, and don't ask why it's counted as a "one."
The answer is: try looking up A Hundred Questions About Leveling-Up Novels, and see the fill-in-the-blank question "one ( ) Dao" in Primary School Winter Break Workbook.
Recently, this newly born Heavenly Dao has had a problem.
To keep her world running smoothly, she followed the example of her senior Heavenly Daos and chose from among her many subjects someone with outstanding talent and fortune, then slapped the title "Son of Heaven" onto him.
But, inexperienced as she was, she overlooked one thing: she forgot to check the Son of Heaven's character first! Aaaaaah!!
Why do other people's Sons of Heaven level up, face-slap, level up, face-slap? Even if they're a little arrogant, it doesn't really matter.
But her Son of Heaven only slacks off, slacks off, and slacks off some more. His greatest dream is to become a lazy salted fish who can lie flat and win without making any effort???
Everyone knows that if you don't work hard, you'll die. And if the Son of Heaven doesn't work hard, then she, his Heavenly Dao mom, will end up dying too!
To save her own life, Yao Beibei tried every possible way to motivate her Son of Heaven.
Part 1:
Smack!
The Son of Heaven kicked away a stone blocking his path, and the inheritance ruins of a powerful wandering immortal from ten thousand years ago suddenly appeared.
A sage with an immortal bearing stroked his beard and smiled. "Child, I see that you have remarkable potential. Would you like to inherit the techniques of my Ten Thousand Swords Sect and test your skills against the greatest heroes of the world?"
The Son of Heaven, completely uninterested: "Fighting is too tiring. No thanks, not interested. This junior will take his leave."
Part 2:
Whoosh!
A leaf fell on the Son of Heaven's head. The remnant soul residing within a tree spirit appeared.
A white-bearded old man smiled at the young man before him. "Young man, I see that you have a natural affinity for plants. You're a born alchemist! Would you like to inherit the arts of my Medicine Sect? From now on, cultivators across the world will spend a fortune just to have you fire up the pill furnace!"
The Son of Heaven, unmoved: "Alchemy sounds like so much trouble. No thanks, not interested. This junior will take his leave."
Part 3:
Yao Beibei tried and failed, then tried and failed again. She almost put every opportunity in the world right in front of this guy, but he didn't like a single one of them. His greatest wish was still to lie flat and spend his whole life as a lazy salted fish!
Finally, the Heavenly Dao's fury reached its peak, and one day she even connected to the Son of Heaven's dreams.
The laid-back young man opened the door. His half-finished stretch froze in midair.
Outside, a round-faced girl with disheveled hair was crying as she used a doll bearing his name as a punching bag.
"Waaaaah, if you don't get your act together, I'm going to die! You stupid Son of Heaven! How did I end up with such an unmotivated son?!"
Yao Beibei was surprised to discover that, starting one day, her Son of Heaven had begun to work hard!
Great! I'm one step farther from total annihilation! The Heavenly Dao happily sank into a lovely fantasy,
never noticing the meaningful look that occasionally flashed through the young man's eyes.
The male lead is a reborn, domineering cultivator, and this isn't his first life.
His laziness is real, and so is his devotion to protecting his wife.
It goes something like this:
Cultivator: "Damn Heaven! I'll defy you no matter what!"
Male lead, changing expression as he draws his sword: "Fellow cultivator, shall we fight?"
A fake salted fish, a true prodigy, a domineering reborn cultivator x a simple, lively, sweet little Heavenly Dao
A sudden spark of inspiration. Blurb written on February 6, 2022.
A new concept for a Heavenly Dao. We'll see when I start writing it.
