Sneaking into My Master's Cave Every Night

Nan Xu transmigrates into a tragic xianxia romance novel, becoming the dragon-vein child, the divine beast Suanni. The heroine of the book is a disciple of an immortal sect, tangled up in a melodramatic romance with the male lead, the Demon Lord. And she, the wicked supporting female character, is the Demon Lord's lovesick lackey. For his sake, she infiltrates the immortal sect and becomes the heroine's junior sister. Their master happens to be the frail, beloved figure the heroine can never forget: the Sword Immortal, Li Yun. The Demon Lord tells her to work hard after becoming Li Yun's disciple and win his trust, so he can use the opportunity to kill his romantic rival. Nan Xu, who has just transmigrated into the story: ... She's done being a lovesick lackey. She'll just go through the motions. If the Demon Lord asks, she'll say she and Li Yun aren't close. From then on, she dozes off during her master's lessons, slacks off while her senior sister practices swordsmanship, coasts through secret-realm training, and skips sect missions. Life spent lying flat is so wonderful. The only problem is that, as a fire-element divine beast, each night she transforms into a fluffy little ball because she can't suppress the true fire inside her. Troubled, Nan Xu secretly finds a place to cool off: the Sword Immortal Li Yun's cave abode. Her frail master's body is permeated with bone-deep cold. She can gobble it up like an ice pop to suppress the true fire inside her. And Li Yun seems to think she's just a little cat that wandered into his abode, letting her come and go as she pleases. She spends the nights in his cave abode, then sneaks away at dawn and turns back into the junior sister who barely registers to anyone, always slacking off. Everything is perfect. Until one day, in a secret realm, she sleeps in. When she opens her eyes, she sees the man's dark hair hanging over her cheek, and his handsome, aloof profile. Beside them, her senior sister looks ready to cry. "Junior Sister, why are you lying in Master's arms?" The Demon Lord's eyes redden. "A Xu, is this what you meant when you said you weren't close?" Nan Xu: ... She's doomed. Her attempt to cool off at his place has gone terribly wrong. The Sword Immortal Li Yun is a peerless genius, renowned throughout the land and the finest cultivator of his generation. But he was gravely wounded in a battle between immortals and demons. With bone-deep cold crippling his cultivation, he is practically an invalid. To keep him company, the sect has assigned him one disciple after another. He occasionally teaches them, but spends most of his time in seclusion. His disciples are restless too, each hoping to climb to a more powerful patron. His days are dull, and he has no interest in the mortal world. Until one day, he meets a slow-witted, carefree little disciple. And a little cat who sneaks into his cave abode in the dead of night. Aloof, solitary master x slacking, fluffy-ball disciple [Check out my upcoming novel, Supposedly, My Husband Kills His Wife to Attain the Dao] Su Niantong was born premature and frail, a sickly child who survived only after taking a parasol tree in a Taoist temple as her godmother. After growing up sickly to the age of eighteen, her family found her a suitable husband. She had met her fiance a few times. He was a refined gentleman, handsome as a jade tree, and gentle in manner. Before the wedding, her family took her to pay their respects to her godmother. For some reason, she fell asleep beneath the parasol tree and had a dream. She dreamed that the world she lived in was actually a world where people could cultivate immortality. And her future husband, Xiao Yan, was the protagonist of a storybook. With exceptional talent, he was taken as a disciple by the wandering incarnation of an immortal, who ordered him to sever his worldly ties and personally kill the wife he'd been married to for three years. She, Su Niantong, appeared for barely two pages before he killed her with a single stroke of his sword. When she woke, Su Niantong pondered this. She had spent years bedridden, and every doctor she'd seen said she wouldn't live to twenty. To make it another year after getting married? What a bargain! Marrying anyone else would mean being worn down by household troubles or dying of illness. She might as well marry Xiao Yan and enjoy three peaceful years. Su Niantong married him without a second thought and spent three years living as she pleased. Three years later, the immortal's incarnation really did come looking for Xiao Yan, ordering him to kill his wife and attain the Dao. Xiao Yan raised his sword, and Su Niantong closed her eyes. But when she opened them again, she saw Xiao Yan run his sword straight through the immortal's body. Blood spattered across his cheek. He wiped it away without a care, his eyes dark and bewitching. He pulled her into his arms and murmured soothingly, "My dear, don't be afraid. I've killed that babbling demonic Taoist. If anyone else comes out with such nonsense, I'll kill them all." Su Niantong: ... Uh. Wasn't he supposed to kill his wife to attain the Dao?
