Ed receives orders from his superior to pose as a student with a messy private life and deliberately get close to Chapman Tu, the current head of the wealthy Tu family, in order to gather evidence that he is the serial killer.
At their first meeting, Ed stages a collision in the street. After Tu Lin's car sends him flying, he grabs hold of the rear passenger window.
The young man nonchalantly wipes the blood running down his forehead and flashes a radiant smile. “As compensation, how about pretending to be my boyfriend? My ex is about to catch up with me.”
Tu Lin, whose face has remained expressionless all this time, slowly raises his eyes.
Later, the two strike a deal.
Ed pretends to be Tu Lin's boyfriend to fend off the business marriage arranged by his elders, while Tu Lin helps Ed get out from under the mountain of love debts he's racked up.
Then, the next time they meet, Ed is bound and thrown into a river, just as Tu Lin and his bodyguards happen to pass by.
The young man is soaked from head to toe. The moment he sees Tu Lin, his eyes light up, and he points at him. “My man is here. You're all dead!”
Tu Lin: “...”
The third time, the fourth time... At every “chance encounter,” Tu Lin can only play the hero and rescue the damsel.
Until the day Tu Lin decides to propose to the young man.
Taking out the carefully chosen engagement ring, Tu Lin looks down at the flirtatious little liar before him and asks, “Is there anything you want to say?”
Ed smiles. “My dear, what are you worried about?”
He's always been good at sweet-talking.
The moment Tu Lin opens the box, he finds himself surrounded by dozens of fully armed agents. With a click, Ed cuffs him himself, then pulls out his badge. “Allow me to formally introduce myself. I'm Ed, a Senior Organized Crime Investigator with SCIB.”
The young man smiles sweetly. “Mr. Chapman, you're under arrest.”

Ed prepares to be shot dead by Tu Lin, but can only watch as Tu Lin calmly takes his hand.
Ed: ???
Tu Lin slides the ring onto Ed's ring finger.
In that moment, Ed feels no love from Tu Lin. Instead, he feels as though he's personally set a demon free.
