(I'll start this after finishing Black Tea. Feel free to add it to your collection in advance. I've got chapters saved up, so jump in without worry.)
As a bit character in a sweet romance, the second-dimensional Yu Jiao is a negative example: she's in debt, refuses to pay it back, takes a rich old man as her godfather, and willingly goes astray.
When the million-follower makeup artist and transformation expert Yu Jiao learns that the author is her archenemy, she sneers inwardly: “If you're not good enough, you resort to these useless tricks! Go ahead and curse me. The more you curse, the more popular I'll get!”
When someone from the real world transmigrates into the fictional one, Yu Jiao finds herself facing a father in prison, a seriously ill mother, a cheating first love, an empty house, and debts totaling millions. She laughs dryly. “Where's my godfather?”
She doesn't find a godfather, but a former school senior recognizes her potential and offers her a job. The pay is generous, the benefits are excellent, and she gets a car and a house, plus five kinds of insurance and a housing fund. She can even get an advance on her salary to pay off her debts.
The high salary comes with high risks. The secretary warns her: “This job has no days off. You're on call twenty-four hours a day and may face attacks, harassment, smear campaigns, and even threats to your personal safety at any time. I suggest you make good use of your skills.
“Also, once you leave the job, you'll have a marriage on your record.”
Yu Jiao declares, “We workers have steel-forged souls. If you're afraid of dying, you're not a real worker. If they smear me, so be it. If I get married, so be it. The boss pays, so I'll charge!”
Once her contract is up, she'll be free of debt, beautiful, and rich. What's a marriage on her record? First she'll find herself a sweet little puppy, then a little wolf, and after that maybe a wolf-puppy hybrid...
Ye Rongxi cuts off her fantasies. “In the Ye family, we don't get divorced. We only become widows or widowers!”
Yu Jiao tosses over a copy of the labor law. “We workers can resign, not just get fired!”
