Please, Bad Kitty, Don't Eat the Fish

Xie Yunyao was a merperson. When he was seventeen, the elders of his clan cast him out to sea, saying he couldn't come back unless he found someone to be his coming-of-age partner. He found a young man in the wilderness. The boy had a mixed bloodline and couldn't take his true form, so the demon tribe had abandoned him. He was also a poor little thing who couldn't see. Xie Yunyao took the beautiful boy home, helped treat his eyes and find demon herbs, and chased off the nasty demons who bullied him. The boy asked if Xie Yunyao was being so kind because he wanted something. Xie Yunyao said, "I want to take you home." The boy slowly smiled, tracing the face of the person before him with his fingertips. "All right. Take me home." Xie Yunyao gazed at the boy's lovely, innocent smile, looking forward to the day his eyes would heal. He waited and waited, until one day he discovered the boy had lied to him. The boy wasn't a half-demon at all, and no one had bullied him. The one who bullied demons was the boy himself: the cruel and ruthless Demon Emperor, rumored to kill without batting an eye. His true form was beautiful, too. With eyes like the sea and soft, snowy-white fur all over, he was an aloof, haughty cat. But how could a fish be with a cat? Xie Yunyao ran away. Before he could make it out of the Demon Realm, the boy caught up and cut off every path ahead of him. The wicked cat dragged Xie Yunyao back to the Demon Emperor's Palace and trapped him in a vast pool, gently squeezing his tail to keep him from leaving. The wicked cat even demanded fiercely to know why he had tried to run away. Hadn't he said he would take him home? Gu Zhun had never believed there could be good demons in this world. But after meeting a fish who was as silly as a little fool, he was willing to start believing. Theme: Goodness, truth, and beauty really do exist in this world.
