Oleander is the most infamous witch in Crescent Village, a skeleton so poor she can barely rattle.

Driven out by the villagers with rotten tomatoes, she has a skull hanging from her waist that never misses a chance to run its mouth, while the accompanying ghost poet talks even more nonsense.

Everyone thinks the witch will be burned at the stake.

Until an evil god turns into gray mist for her, devouring everyone who hates her.

Later, the world falls apart, and the long-fallen Old Gods awaken.

Only then do people realize that the skeleton wandering around in search of food was never a nobody.

The swamp witch pledges her loyalty and serves at her command;

The chosen one of the Goddess of Night gazes at her as if she were an answer awaited for countless years;

The cursed monastery's scribe weeps. "You've finally returned. I have waited for you for ten thousand years."

As the New Gods' minions try to engulf the earth, the ancient deities begin to awaken.

They finally discover, to their horror, that the skeleton they had ignored, poor, greedy, and petty, is seated high above them on a throne forged from divine remains.

Oleander slowly raises her arm, new flesh rapidly growing over her bones.

The golden-haired God of Melody plays her lyre.

And the incessantly chattering skull at her waist stretches into a malicious smile:

"Now it's time for my student to collect a little interest."
