Synopsis
1. Shen Xubai, the powerful business tycoon no one dares to cross, is reserved and aloof, keeping women at a distance. Recently, however, news broke that he had married young.
Countless people wondered who could melt this icy mountain of the business world. Then someone revealed it was the spoiled, hard-to-handle heiress of the Li family.
But theirs was merely a marriage of convenience, each getting something out of it. They kept their wedding low-key so they could split up easily later.
*
The spoiled Miss Li did have something to gain from this marriage: Shen Xubai's handsome face, his great physique, and, best of all, the money that let her shop to her heart's content.
It was a deal she couldn't lose on. The only downside was that their nightly activities left her so exhausted she was late to work the next day.
Wasn't he supposed to be abstinent and cold? Wasn't the snow-capped mountain meant to melt?
She was the one turning to water every night.
2. Later, word spread that Shen's gentle first love, the woman he'd left abroad, had returned. The whole city waited for the spoiled young lady to be abandoned.
At a banquet, Miss Li took off her wedding ring on the spot and smiled at a handsome young man. "I'm a widow."
A complicated blaze flickered in Shen Xubai's deep eyes as his slender, evenly jointed fingers crushed his wineglass.
*
On a dim little balcony, tipsy Li Chuyi was pinned against the glass. Nearby, people laughed and drank, their glasses clinking.
Shen Xubai brushed his lips against hers, undisguised possessiveness in his eyes. His voice was low and husky.
"So, your man is dead to you?"
Li Chuyi went limp from his kisses. "Your first love is back, and I'm bored of you too! Divor... Mmm!"
He wouldn't let her say the word "divorce."
He survived that night, but she nearly lost half her life. She didn't just stop being late to work, she took a whole week off.
**
In the end, the whole city waited in vain for them to divorce. Instead, Shen, a man usually so sparing with words and so cool and distant, was asked in an interview what fruit he liked. For once, he didn't act annoyed by such a trivial question.
Usually as aloof as a snow-covered mountain and restrained in his desires, he suddenly looked into the camera with affectionate eyes and said,
"I like lychees."
*
Only later did people learn that the famous blogger who popularized ancient architecture, and the person devoted to restoring cultural relics and repeatedly honored with architecture awards, were one and the same.
That person was Li Chuyi, the very lychee Shen had spoken of!
Everyone: ...Premium dog food, and it's free.
3. At the school anniversary, she danced alone for him.
She was dazzling and proud, the bells at her slender waist chiming sweetly. Beneath the brilliant lights, her skin was like ice and her bones like jade, shining brightly.
Later, with the turn of her pale fingers, one dilapidated historic building after another was restored to its former glory. Her satisfied smile was impossible to hide.
Wasn't she just like the moon reflected in rippling water?
A possessive, secretly ruthless CEO x a beautiful, proud historic architecture restorer
A sweet post-marriage romance
-- Coming soon: More Than Just Favoritism --
1. A friend recently invested in a new theater and invited Lu Ningyu to its opening performance. Every dancer onstage was as beautiful as a peach blossom, with a graceful figure. His friend grinned and asked, "Boss Lu, which one do you think is the prettiest?"
But Lu Ningyu's eyes went straight to the young woman sitting behind the deep curtains, wearing a smoky-pink qipao.
She sat at stage right accompanying the dancers, her slender, pure hands plucking the strings. Like a pipa fairy in a painting, she set the hearts of everyone in the audience to fluttering.
*
No one knew that the seemingly abstinent and heartless Boss Lu had a weakness for slender waists and delicate hands.
He rubbed the cuff link on his suit and said coolly, "None of them are pretty."
Because no one could compare.
2. The Fu family was in crisis. Fu Yuanyin's boyfriend, Lu Mingcheng, not only failed to offer her any support, he even let her catch him with another woman.
That day, rain poured outside the hotel. With nowhere else to turn, Fu Yuanyin set off for the Lu family to end her engagement, her eyes red from crying.
A black umbrella shielded her from the rain. Fu Yuanyin looked up, her lashes trembling. The handsome, imposing man before her was none other than Lu Ningyu, the most powerful and untouchable member of the Lu family, as her ex-boyfriend had put it.
Lu Ningyu lowered his eyes to the little lady's reddened eyes.
Her rain-soaked, mist-blue qipao outlined her shapely figure, and her waist was slender enough to fit in one hand. He wanted to take those delicate white fingers and press them to his chest, to keep this pitiful, touching sight all to himself.
He spoke calmly. "Miss Fu, there's no need to rush into calling off the engagement. I'm a member of the Lu family too, and I'm in need of a wife."
**
At first, Fu Yuanyin thought he'd asked her to be his wife only to fulfill the wish of his gravely ill grandfather.
So she planned to keep her head down and leave once the old man passed away. But to her surprise, his health improved day by day.
And the distance between her and Lu Ningyu at night went from a room between them, to a bed with a meter between them... and then to no distance at all.
#What the young lady thought were coincidences at every turn were actually traps he had laid step by step. :)
3. Later, her ex-boyfriend came begging for another chance. He stood in the rain for half the night before the door finally opened.
But what greeted him was a man's neck marked with suggestive scratches. Lu Mingcheng was furious and ready to curse, but then he got a good look at the man in front of him, wearing a bathrobe.
Lu Mingcheng's lips trembled as if struck by lightning. "Un... Uncle."
Before he could finish, the man frowned and lowered his voice, ice-cold. "You're waking your little aunt."
The woman inside had heard the noise anyway. Her grumbling complaint about the disturbance carried an intimate note.
And so Lu Mingcheng saw his usually cold-hearted, ruthless uncle in the business world soften his stern features and address the woman inside with boundless affection. "It's nothing, just an annoying, drowned dog."
Then he slammed the door shut. Lu Mingcheng hit his nose on it, his head spinning.
