An old-fashioned trope. The male lead is not a virgin. Don't read if that's not for you.
I just wanted to ride a popular trend with this story. Back then, stories about CEOs pursuing their wives were popular, and I wrote this one in that vein, with a focus on sex. Readers who only want chaste romances yelled at me until I locked the comments. The story does have problems. I wanted to contact my editor and have it deleted, but was told that completed stories in the paid format can't be removed.
The values in this story no longer align with what I believe. I used to just want to ride a trend, but maybe I've gotten older and worry that it could influence young women. The central idea of the story is that the heroine is beautiful, educated, and ambitious, but the way she gets ahead is through the hero's support. She achieves fame and success through love and beauty.
Recently I've seen some matchmaking influencers talking about rating looks, social climbing, beautiful women, stunning women, huge outcomes, and big apples, and about changing your fate by marrying well. It feels like they're pimping out pretty girls to rich old men with bad intentions. It makes me really uncomfortable. It reminded me of this story.
I don't want to argue about whether it's realistic or not. Everyone lives their own life, and some people really do marry well and live well. There's no point in saying anything about that. But I don't want to write stories like this anymore.
I want to write stories about pure love and pure attraction, stories about striving upward and standing up to hardship, about people supporting each other through ordinary life and cherishing one another.
Even when reading fiction, I hope people won't read stories about "depending on a man and finding success and happiness through winning his affections." That's a lie.
The whole idea of having sex first is disrespectful. Going after someone's money is a transaction of power and sex. I hope people won't give this kind of novel a market. So many years have passed, yet this kind of subject is still so popular. There are lots of these stories on the rankings, and some have even been adapted into TV dramas. It breaks my heart. Readers may think, "I know it's fake, but it's fun, so that's fine." But at its core, this kind of story insults women as people. It's absurd.
Maybe many factors affect love in real life, but in my stories, I hope I can bring out the beautiful, authentic parts of love.
To put it bluntly, these workplace novels are just stories about keeping a mistress dressed up in the shell of a working woman. In reality, they're fantasies about willingly degrading yourself, and they're unrealistic. Girls, please understand: no man is going to be there to catch you. What will catch you is your pension, your work experience, and your understanding of the world. Having a strong inner self is what makes you truly rich. Don't hope for handouts from anyone, and don't rely on someone else's conscience to get by.
Especially if you're a pretty girl, don't believe the toxic online advice that says if someone loves you, he'll spend money on you, or that a big transfer is better than caring words. That's a twisted way to think. Money is good, but care and affection are real, too. Other people may measure beauty in money, but please don't objectify yourself. The prettier you are, the more self-respect and confidence you need. Read more and broaden your horizons so you can find happiness on your own. Otherwise, a pretty face and an empty head can drag you into an abyss of misery.
There's also a new term going around: "pretty privilege." People say beautiful women receive preferential treatment and kindness from childhood because of their looks.
Don't believe it!!!! There's no such thing as pretty privilege. It just means you met kind people with good character.
Men don't treat you well because you're pretty. They treat you well because they want to take advantage of you. The moment you ignore them and they can't get what they want, they'll hate you and talk behind your back, calling you fussy, arrogant, and asking who you think you are. Girls, a face and body that society can put up for sale are worthless. What's truly valuable is a healthy body maintained through sensible exercise and a balanced diet, and a clean, peaceful, resilient, independent mind.
