A Sword Embracing the Bright Moon

[Complete] - An innocent, world-weary little princess x a bold, carefree young assassin - Shang Rong was born the legitimate daughter of Prince Rong’s household. At her birth, strange celestial signs appeared, and when she was one, she was brought to the imperial palace and made Princess Mingyue. In the thirty-first year of the Chunsheng era, the emperor traveled south and was ambushed by rebels. Princess Mingyue, who had accompanied him, was separated from the imperial party and ended up in Nanzhou. That day, Shang Rong met a young man in black in the snow. A long sword in his hand was stained with blood, snow covered his shoulders, and his naturally smiling eyes were bright and beautiful. The boy bit open the wooden stopper of his wine flask and started to pass her by, only to notice her gazing longingly at it. “Thirsty?” he asked. Shang Rong nodded. The boy’s eyes curved as he pointed his bloodstained sword at the pristine snow. “Why not have a bite of that?” The pampered little princess shook her head firmly. “It’s dirty.” He seemed to find that hilarious. “And you don’t think I’m dirty?” The next moment, he held the flask to her lips and made her take a swig of strong liquor. Delighted to see her coughing until her face was red, he laughed, bold and wicked. It wasn’t until Shang Rong was taken in by him that she learned he was an assassin who killed people every day. But after taking her in, he gained another task: raising her. Her clothes had to be pretty, her shoes embroidered and set with pearls, and every meal had to include meat. She even insisted that he be the one to comb her hair. One day, after staying up all night killing people, the boy came home and slept for only an hour. Yawning, he combed her hair. “You’re such a bother.” His voice sounded a little muffled. “I’m sorry,” Shang Rong said sincerely. “It’s fine.” With her looking up at him, the boy suddenly turned his face away. “I must be able to hold the sword in my hand, before I dare ascend the jade terrace and embrace the moon.” Reader’s notes: 1. This is a bittersweet romance with a lychee flavor, and a story of mutual salvation. 2. Everyone has different tastes. If it isn’t for you, just stop reading. There’s no need to tell me. 3. This novel may be revised from time to time, so the authorized and pirated versions may differ. I won’t accept writing advice or any criticism or praise from people reading pirated copies. If you’re reading a pirated copy, don’t comment. 4. The male lead saves the female lead neither because she’s pretty nor because the author insists he must. He has his reasons, and they’re clearly explained in the story. Theme: Break free from feudal superstition and bravely find your way to each other.
