Several worlds developed bugs, causing some supporting characters to stray from the paths they were meant to follow.
The System merged these characters into one world, and all it needed was a patient operative.
Bring them back onto the right track and prevent the world from collapsing.
But after Ye Yao transmigrated into a book, she found herself poor, with eccentric parents and an older brother who was a fake young master, constantly matching wits with the real one.
Just staying alive was already hard enough. Where was she supposed to find time for these inexplicable missions?
System: Sigh, I knew that simply boosting someone's fortune wouldn't be enough to attract a Host...
Ye Yao: What fortune?
System: The kind where you can never spend all your money.
Ye Yao: I always dreamed of becoming an honorable System operative!
To save these supporting characters teetering on the brink of becoming villains, Ye Yao takes on several jobs at once.
She works as a live-in maid in the mansion of an aloof young master, a junior assistant to a hot-tempered singer with a torrent of bad reviews, and a caretaker for a domineering CEO who is hopelessly devoted to his idealized first love and suffers from stomachaches every night...
No matter how demanding they are, none of it matters when there's money on the line!
Ye Yao works with remarkable efficiency, soothing one person after another, and her mission completion rate is just as impressive.
The System discovers that these ill-tempered men become docile and obedient in her presence, their corruption scores plummeting. They seem less like house cats and more like well-trained dogs.
And so, the promised rewards arrive.
By the time Ye Yao completes all her missions, she's rolling in wealth and blessed with good fortune. She wins the lottery, gets a car thrown in when she buys a house, and even turns random discounts into a hundred-percent-off deal. She's the luckiest person alive!
She promptly quits, blocks every mission target, and announces her retirement.
That very evening, Ye Yao's neighborhood looks like a luxury car show, with all the cars parked beneath the same apartment building.
Distinguished-looking men have all come searching for the same person, desperate to ask why she suddenly quit.
Ye Yao: So being good at your job really does make your bosses fixate on you.
System: ...I don't think that's what's going on.
Theme: Stay positive and optimistic, and good luck will come your way.
