Made to Order

Zhou Cun was invited back to China to attend a fashion show.

Passing by the backstage makeup room, she happened to encounter a fellow model throwing her weight around.

“Let me make this clear: I won't do it for five thousand. I charge at least eight thousand for one runway walk. If you don't agree, forget it. I'm not walking today, anyway!”

Zhou Cun had seen plenty of this sort of thing and wasn't interested. She turned to leave.

Just then,

a voice even more compelling than the previous model's arrogance reached her ears. She couldn't help stopping and looking back.

“Then don't walk. Grab any passerby outside. They'll be better than you.”

The speaker had her back to the door, so Zhou Cun could only see half of her profile. The dramatic princess-cut hairstyle made it hard to get a clear look, too.

She paused in the doorway for just a moment, thinking that this makeup artist had a very short fuse and would probably have a hard time dealing with the consequences.

She didn't expect the woman with her back turned to suddenly look around.

When their eyes met in midair,

Zhou Cun's heart stirred.

And the next moment...

“Hey, miss, could you do me a favor?”

The lively-looking girl with long black hair raised an eyebrow at her from across the room and asked, then continued:

“I won't make you do it for nothing. She's a professional model, and she gets five thousand per show. You walk instead, and I'll give you six thousand. How about it?”

Before Zhou Cun could answer, the little model who was about to be replaced grabbed the girl's shoulder and screamed:

“He Lan Miaomiao, have you lost your mind? Why should some passerby get paid more than me?”

The girl smiled like a cat, languid and sly, but her voice was cool and cutting.

“Her face is better than yours.”

Zhou Cun: “...”
