[Synopsis Two]
Jiang Che is tall and handsome, with a distinguished air. He has studied since childhood, and his gentle manner is just like that of a gentleman in a book, so girls from all the villages around adore him. But deep down, he loathes books and would rather work in the fields if he had the choice.
His family arranged a marriage for him long ago. He didn't like it, but no one cared.
Who knew that after waking from a long illness, his marriage would be settled, but his new bride would be a stranger, repeatedly saying she was only standing in for someone else and would leave in a few days now that he was well.
Leave? Fine.
Jiang Che thinks to himself: He has no say in any of this anyway, so what difference does it make who she is?
But in the short time they spend together, that girl is like the pounding of a drum, breaking through the icy armor around his dull life.
The family sends the girl who was originally meant to marry him.
For the first time in his life, Jiang Che takes the initiative and fights for what he wants.
Later, his wife curls up in his arms, tilts her head up, and insists on asking him,
“When you heard I was leaving, were you so anxious you nearly cried?”
Jiang Che holds her tightly by the shoulders. “We bowed to each other as husband and wife, and Heaven and Earth witnessed it. We are the true husband and wife.”
As they spend more time together, a flutter of the heart deepens into love.
Until he finds a small portrait of a man in his wife's boudoir, and he bears some resemblance to the person in it.
It turns out the happiness he believed in was nothing but him being a substitute.
After a year of marriage, the newly minted scholar suddenly faces a marital crisis!
Content warnings:
A mountain of author-created details. The male lead is decent-looking and has a nice build, but his personality is absolutely unlikeable at first. He's not a perfect character, and the female lead isn't a pampered wife.
There are some awful relatives. Any resemblance is coincidental. No malicious rivalry between women or pandering to men; there may be competition among men. (Outstanding women shine like gold and need not be hidden away in a dark room.)
The prose flows gently, but this isn't a diary. It's a lighthearted story about a young couple brought together by chance, and the little things that happen between their small household and their extended family. Please leave thoughtful comments. (Feel free to criticize the characters, but don't attack the author's character or make personal attacks. I'm sensitive. Warning: natural disasters strike everyone and send the whole cast to their graves at the end!)
There are other completed works on my profile. The writing is decent, so feel free to give them a try!
Theme: Life doesn't have that many spectators. If there are any, send them packing! You live your life for yourself.
How come the Hu family is now the Zhao family?
The plot of the story is interesting and the characters are very vivid, including the old gangsters of the Hu family and the Zhao family.
