[Reader's Guide (Please treat this as a list of warnings. Opening the main story means accepting all of the following.)

1. A slightly old-fashioned romance-focused story about the gong and shou. A carefree, sickly shou vs. a straight gong with strong possessiveness. One-on-one, both virgins. Bad ending before rebirth, happy ending after.

2. Faking your death inevitably comes with melodrama, including a little bit of the gong going mad as a widower.

3. The gong is oblivious to his own attraction to men, but his love is obvious. He's not especially gay, but he gets a full-on sister-in-law complex at any time and is quick to challenge rivals and make demands.

4. The shou likes pretending to be straight and has his pain sensitivity turned all the way down. This may lead to scenes where everyone thinks he's pitiful and miserable, while he has no idea what's going on and just feels sleepy.

5. I originally wanted to write a slow-to-realize gay shou paired with a straight gong who's head over heels, but there are no genuinely heterosexual romantic plots involving the main characters. Maybe that's what they call straight-gay (?).
